VAHC activities

TORONTO/HCMC, ON JUNE 6 2024 – The Canadian Hydrogen Association (CHA) and the Vietnam ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement will strengthen collaboration in the development and deployment of zero-emission hydrogen solutions.

The mission of VAHC is to develop the hydrogen community in Vietnam and ASEAN. We organize monthly seminars to provide practical insights and knowledge about hydrogen. On June 27, we will host a specialized hydrogen seminar with partners from Japan and the EU.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam — The Vietnam ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC) and the Korea Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Industry Association (KHFCIA) will co-host the Vietnam-Korea Hydrogen Workshop 2025 on July 16, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City. This landmark event aims to foster bilateral collaboration in hydrogen policy, technology, and projects, aligning with global efforts to advance clean energy solutions.

On the sidelines of the Vietnam-Korea Hydrogen Conference 2025, the Vietnam-ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC) and the Korea Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Industry Association (KHFCIA) will hold a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on July 16, 2025.

The panel discussion on "Advanced Solar Technologies Contributing to the Development of Hydrogen Production, Storage, and Application in Vietnam" at the HCMC University of Natural Resources and Environment on May 20, 2025, provided critical insights into Vietnam’s renewable energy transition, particularly in solar and hydrogen integration. Moderated by Dr. Tran Thanh Tam, the discussion featured experts from Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Vietnam, highlighting both opportunities and challenges in deploying advanced solar solutions for hydrogen production while addressing environmental concerns.

Ho Chi Minh City, May 20, 2025 – The seminar “Advanced Solar Energy Systems and Hydrogen Production, Storage, and Applications” successfully brought together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore cutting-edge solutions for Vietnam’s transition to clean energy. Co-organized by the University of Natural Resources and Environment HCMC (UNRE HCMC) and the Vietnam ASEAN Hydrogen Club, the event highlighted innovative technologies and strategies to accelerate the nation’s decarbonization efforts.

Dr. Murayama’s presentation reaffirms thyssenkrupp nucera's position as a pillar of the global green hydrogen transformation. Through scalable, efficient AWE systems and a 360° service approach, they are enabling countries like Vietnam to leap forward in the clean energy transition.

Mr. Kim’s presentation underscores Toyota Tsusho Korea’s strategic role in building a reliable, scalable, and integrated hydrogen supply chain—one that serves both mobility and industry, and aligns with Korea’s ambitious hydrogen roadmap.

As the world accelerates toward net-zero emissions by 2050, new clean technologies like Low Carbon Hydrogen and Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) are seen as critical solutions. However, deploying these technologies at scale faces deep financial, regulatory, and capability-related barriers.

Utility Global, through its proprietary H2Gen® technology, is transforming hydrogen production by offering a low-cost, low-carbon, no-electricity solution. Designed to decarbonize heavy industries such as mobility, steelmaking, and chemicals, H2Gen® leverages waste gases and biogas to produce high-purity hydrogen and concentrated CO₂ streams with a minimal footprint.

Vietnam has outlined an ambitious path toward a net-zero future by 2050, driven by the integration of solar, wind, and green hydrogen energy. Under its National Climate Change Strategy, the government aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 43.5% by 2030 (compared to business-as-usual levels) and achieve net-zero by 2050.

On May 14, 2025, the Taiwan Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Partnership (THFCP) and the Vietnam ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC) held a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony to formalize their collaboration in advancing hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. The virtual event brought together industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers from both sides to explore future partnerships and innovations in clean energy.
