WORKSHOP "CAGE CARBON SOFTWARE - CAGE CBAM IN INVENTORY TRACKING GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS AND PREPARING CBAM RECORDS - EUROPEAN CARBON TAX"

At the COP26 and COP27 conferences (the 26th and 27th United Nations Climate Change Summits), the Vietnamese Government committed to bringing net greenhouse gas emissions to "zero" (Net Zero) in 2050, immediately after that the Government issued Decree No. 06/2022/ND-CP dated January 7, 2022 Regulations on mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and protecting residential areas, followed by Decision No. 01 /2022/QD-TTg dated January 18, 2022 on the list of fields and establishments emitting greenhouse gases that require a greenhouse gas inventory (including 1,912 establishments and being updated and supplemented).

The European Union (EU) has also issued the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), applicable from October 2023. CBAM is considered an important tool to prevent the phenomenon of "carbon leakage", when businesses move production activities to countries with lower environmental standards to reduce costs. Currently, CBAM is focusing on six main areas, including cement, steel, aluminum, fertilizer, electricity and hydrogen, but the mechanism will not only stop at the current six main areas but also has a plan. continue to expand the scope of adjustment in the future.

Understanding the importance of meeting requirements from the government and Europe, CIC Consulting and Technology Joint Stock Company coordinated with Metsims Consulting Firm (UK) to organize a seminar program in the form of online with the topic "Cage Carbon Software - Cage CBAM tool in inventorying greenhouse gas emissions and preparing CBAM records - European carbon tax".
