Working session with Mr. Masuo Ono, Consul General of Japan on hydrogen project development
On September 26, 2024, the Board of Directors of VAHC Club, together with members and partners including PV Gas Group, PwC Consulting Group, Trung Nam Group, Obayasshi Group, Forbes Vietnam Magazine and Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park, visited and worked at the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City. The delegation was received by Mr. Masuo Ono, Consul General and Economic Consul, Ms. Eri Ogawa.
On behalf of VAHC Club, Mr. Le Ngoc Anh Minh, Chairman of the Club sincerely thanked the Consul General for taking the time to receive the VAHC delegation and introduced the formation process and international activities of VAHC. Currently, VAHC has strategic cooperation with the Japan Hydrogen Association, actively cooperated with JICA and JETRO, strategic cooperation with the Australian National Hydrogen Council, the Scottish Hydrogen Association, and the Irish Hydrogen Association. VAHC has participated in many international forums and recently successfully organized two international hydrogen conferences, including the Vietnam-Germany Hydrogen Conference last August and the Vietnam-Japan Hydrogen Conference 2024 this September. VAHC member Obayashi Corporation has been granted 7 million USD by NEDO to implement a green hydrogen project in Long An, while member PV Gas is promoting green hydrogen and green ammonia production projects in Ba Ria Vung Tau. VAHC Club is receiving active attention from many domestic and international partners, especially Japan, to form a hydrogen supply chain in Vietnam and orient the establishment of a supply chain from Vietnam to Japan.
On behalf of Obayashi, Dr. Tran Nguyen, on behalf of PV Gas, Mr. Hoang Hai Thanh, Deputy Director of Technical and Technology Department, on behalf of Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park, Mr. Toshio Kazama, Deputy General Director presented the green hydrogen projects and carbon-neutral industrial parks that their units are implementing.
VAHC Club would like to request the Consul General to support the following: support in attending and giving encouraging speeches when the Club organizes international conferences, support in introducing the Club and its activities to the Japanese business community, and support in funding new research projects.
On behalf of the Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Masuo Ono thanked the representative of VAHC Club for taking the time to visit and share information about VAHC Club's activities. Mr. Ono supports the Club's activities and wishes to be regularly updated on its activities and will guide the connection when necessary. Regarding research funding, the Consulate General does not have this function and recommends that the Club contact Japanese Government agencies such as JETRO, METI or JICA.

Japan is the first country in the world to announce a national hydrogen strategy in 2020. In 2023, the Japan Hydrogen Association launched the establishment of a multi-billion dollar domestic and international hydrogen development promotion fund, and the first fund closing was made in September 2024 with a value of more than 400 million USD.
VAHC aims to develop and promote projects with Japanese partners to form a supply chain from Vietnam, ASEAN countries to Japan.
