Wisdom to Advance Localised Hydrogen Bus Production for APEC Phu Quoc 2027
Ho Chi Minh City, 4 February 2026 – Ahead of the Boutique Workshop “Renewable Hydrogen and Circular Energy Solutions for Vietnam and ASEAN’s Green Mobility Future: The Real Thing” tomorrow in HCMC, Wisdom Motor Group is accelerating discussions with Vietnamese partners to localise the production of hydrogen fuel cell buses, with the aim of supporting APEC Phu Quoc 2027 and contributing to Vietnam’s green energy transition.

Wisdom Motor is a global developer of zero-emission commercial vehicles, focusing on battery electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. The company has delivered and deployed zero-emission commercial vehicles in multiple international markets and has accumulated experience in hydrogen fuel cell system integration, energy management, and operational safety for public transport applications.
The initiative is part of a low-emissions hydrogen demonstration project based on a decentralised production model, using containerised hydrogen production systems powered by on-site solar electricity. The project also envisions the establishment of a Hydrogen Experience Centre in Phu Quoc, featuring:
-
Hydrogen fuel cell buses for tourism and passenger experience services,
-
Retail and exhibition spaces for hydrogen-enabled consumer products, such as hydrogen skincare masks and hydrogen-rich drinking water,
-
Hydrogen inhalation therapy areas and hydrogen spa services.

The project is initiated and coordinated by the Vietnam–ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC), with participating partners including United Hydrogen, Wisdom Motor, Delta International, Nice Tours, and GREEN IN. Within the partnership, Wisdom Motor is responsible for:
-
Designing decentralised solar-powered hydrogen production systems based on technology from Plus Power (United States),
-
Developing hydrogen fuel cell bus solutions,
-
Identifying local manufacturing partners,
-
Supporting Vietnamese regulatory and compliance procedures,
-
Transferring technology and delivering safety training, production supervision training, and operational training.

Mr. Ivan of Wisdom Motor explained to Mr. Khoi of Samco about the roadmap of H2 Experience Center, Phu Quoc APEC 2027
One day prior to the workshop, today in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Le Ngoc Anh Minh, Chairman of the Vietnam–ASEAN Hydrogen Club, together with Mr. Ivan Lim, Global Senior Director, and Mr. Henry Lin, Director of Marketing and Sales of Wisdom Motor, held a working meeting with representatives of Saigon Transportation Mechanical Corporation (SAMCO) at the An Lac Manufacturing Plant.
SAMCO was represented by Mr. Vu Khoi, Deputy Director of the SAMCO An Lac Plant, and Mr. Pham Xuan Nam, Head of the Research and Development Department. Discussions focused on potential cooperation in the import of components, local manufacturing, and assembly of hydrogen fuel cell buses for the demonstration project, as well as technical requirements, safety management, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
SAMCO is a state-owned enterprise under the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, with extensive experience in the manufacturing and assembly of buses, special-purpose vehicles, and public transport solutions, and is a key supplier for urban and tourism transport systems in Vietnam.

VAHC is currently seeking donors and financial partners to enable project implementation, with the objective of launching and showcasing the hydrogen demonstration project alongside APEC Phu Quoc 2027. As Vietnam pursues its Net Zero by 2050 commitment and advances national energy transition and green energy agendas, hydrogen is expected to become a key topic in upcoming APEC discussions, offering an opportunity to promote practical, verifiable hydrogen applications at one of the region’s most significant economic forums.
