The Vietnam ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC) is pleased to welcome EnergyChain and its parent company DeepBrain Co Ltd, headquartered in Busan, South Korea, as official members of the Club from September 2026. EnergyChain's participation marks an important expansion of VAHC in connecting smart energy solutions and energy saving management into the hydrogen and energy transition ecosystem in Vietnam.

Why EnergyChain chose Vietnam

According to EnergyChain CEO Sang-Il Park, there are three main reasons why Vietnam is a strategic destination for the company.

First, electricity demand is growing exponentially. Vietnam's electricity demand is expected to grow by 10 to 12 per cent annually during 2026 to 2030. The industrial sector currently accounts for more than half of the country's total energy demand. In Vung Ang, Ha Tinh province, electricity demand is projected to increase by about 17 per cent in 2026, higher than the national average. Industrial zones are booming with major projects from VinFast, electronics factories and data centres, all of which require stable, high quality power.

Second, the regulatory framework is improving significantly. The Vietnamese government is actively reforming the electricity market, with Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) mechanisms expanded under Decree 243/2026/ND-CP, allowing manufacturing plants, data centres and EV charging stations to participate. At the same time, time of use electricity pricing with three periods and policies supporting rooftop solar power are also driving demand for smart energy management solutions.

Third, EnergyChain's competitive advantage has already been validated in Vietnam. At the InnoEx 2025 exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City, DeepBrain signed multiple MOUs worth over 6.6 million USD with major Vietnamese enterprises and organisations. Media conglomerates, state owned enterprises and infrastructure partners have shown strong interest.

Market strategy and commercialisation roadmap

EnergyChain identifies its target customer segments as first priority industrial production facilities that use large amounts of energy such as steel, cement, glass, construction materials and manufacturing plants, where electricity costs account for a large share and savings have a clear financial impact. Secondary segments are hospitals, logistics centres, large buildings and industrial parks. Future segments are power plants, independent power producers, renewable energy developers and the DPPA ecosystem.

The commercialisation roadmap consists of four phases. Phase one is market entry, collaborating with VAHC to organise technical introductions and in depth workshops, with the objective of generating qualified site assessment requests. Phase two is assessment and pilot, selecting three to five enterprises for the pilot programme with specific KPIs. Phase three is commercial conversion, converting successful pilot projects into commercial contracts including equipment deployment, SaaS and maintenance services. Phase four is ecosystem expansion, evaluating potential integration with DPPA and REC.

Son Chang Wee, Team Leader for energy service model development at DeepBrain, holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Management from New York University. He began service planning at Mind Solution in 2017, with seven years of experience in the planning field.
