VAHC, HUTECH and Japanese partners organize the Hydrogen 2025 Workshop: Promoting research and application cooperation in healthcare

On October 17, at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), the Vietnam - Japan Workshop on Hydrogen 2025 took place with the theme "Application of hydrogen in healthcare with Japanese technology and Vietnamese partners", aiming to exchange academic knowledge, introduce new technologies and promote cooperation in the field of hydrogen in healthcare.
Delegates attending the Workshop, on the Japanese side, were Member of the House of Representative Yoichiro Aoyagi, Vice President of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance, Mr. Mitsutoshi Okabe, Chief Representative of JETRO Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Shimada Yusuke, General Director of Kawasaki Motor Vietnam & Thailand, Mr. Taito Sakurai, Investment Director of Fidenam Switzerland, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Business Director of Toda Corporation, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Business Director of Toda Corporation; international delegates included Dr. Majo George, Head of the Faculty of Economics, UEF University, Mr. Tim Koo, Chairman of Normsun Hong Kong, Mr. Andy Lei, Vice Chairman of VAHC and Vietnamese delegates: Lawyer Nguyen Anh Tam, Vice Chairman of VAHC, Dr. Hoang Trong Dung, Deputy General Director of PV Gas, Dr. Nguyen Huu Luong, Senior H2 Expert of the Petroleum Institute, Ms. Ngo Huynh Trang, Chairman of Ca Mau Eco, Dr. Nhu Duc Thang, Department of Rehabilitation, Central Psychiatric Hospital 2 and representatives from the banking, finance, consulting, new energy and healthcare industries.
The workshop was organized by HUTECH in collaboration with the Vietnam ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC) and Suiso Japan Company (Japan).
In his opening speech, Mr. Le Ngoc Anh Minh - Chairman of VAHC said that the workshop not only has scientific significance but is also an important step towards a green economy and sustainable development.

Mr. Yoichiro Aoyagi - Member of the House of Representatives of Japan, Vice President of the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Union, sent a welcome message to the conference and expressed his wish to strengthen Vietnam - Japan cooperation in the field of hydrogen technology and public health.

At the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Viet - Head of HUTECH Science and Technology Department presented the paper "HUTECH International Cooperation towards Innovation and New Technology". He introduced the research capacity, international cooperation and new technology development orientation of the University, especially in the fields of innovation, clean energy and biotechnology. He said that the University is focusing on promoting topics on water electrolysis technology, green hydrogen production and hydrogen applications in industry and medicine, in line with the National Strategy on hydrogen energy to 2050.
Through the workshop, the University hopes to expand connections with international research institutes, businesses and universities, aiming to develop a green hydrogen ecosystem and promote the application of hydrogen technology in healthcare, energy and environment in Vietnam.

In the thematic report, Dr. Nguyen Huu Luong - Senior Hydrogen Expert, Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI), presented the paper “Overview on Emissions & Air Pollution in Vietnam”, providing a comprehensive academic analysis of the status of emissions and air pollution in Vietnam based on scientific data and international studies. The report points out the link between air pollution, climate change and public health, and emphasizes the role of hydrogen, renewable energy and carbon capture and storage (CCUS) technology in the emission reduction strategy, in line with the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.

Ms. Ngo Huynh Trang - Chairman of Ca Mau Eco introduced the Ca Mau Eco eco-tourism model, with a green development orientation - low emissions, applying hydrogen technology in spa therapy, hydrogen water and natural health care programs. The report aims to form the first Hydrogen Wellness model in Vietnam, spreading the message of green living, nature conservation and sustainable health care.
Mr. Andy Lei - Vice President of VAHC presented the paper "Benefits of Hydrogen-Rich Water and Hydrogen Inhaling for Human Health", synthesizing medical evidence on the biological effects of molecular hydrogen (H₂) in neutralizing free radicals, reducing oxidative stress, regulating immunity and supporting the treatment of chronic diseases. He also predicted that the hydrogen medicine market could reach a scale of 1.5 billion USD by 2030, opening up the potential for the development of smart medical devices and hydrogen-pharmaceutical combination therapy.

Ms. Ho Thi Bich Phuong - Assistant General Director, Head of Business Coordination Department of UNP Healthcare Vietnam reported “Experience in distributing IZUMIO Hydrogen-Rich Water in Vietnam and how Japanese HRW improves your health”, sharing the experience of deploying IZUMIO hydrogen-rich water technology in Vietnam. The report cited Japanese medical studies proving the effectiveness of hydrogen in neutralizing free radicals, improving metabolism, stabilizing blood sugar and enhancing cell resistance. This affirms that hydrogen is a green, safe and potential therapeutic element in new generation medicine.

At the end of the topic, Mr. Otuki Taisei - Assistant to the President and CEO of Suiso Japan Company presented a speech "Hydrogen-Based Healthcare Technology from Japan" introducing the Japanese hydrogen therapy technology system and products. He emphasized the biological role of hydrogen - the fundamental element that sustains life, with many international research projects proving its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory effects.
At the same time, he shared the Suilive SS-300+ and SS-600+ product lines, using advanced water electrolysis technology, creating 99% pure hydrogen gas tested by the Aichi Center for Industrial Science & Technology (Japan), which has been exported to 19 countries and is widely used in hydrogen inhalation therapy, beauty spas and health recovery.

Within the framework of the event, HUTECH and Suiso Japan Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking an important step in the process of internationalizing the University's research and technology transfer activities. The two sides committed to coordinate in implementing pilot projects applied in medicine and healthcare, developing advanced technology laboratories and training specialized human resources.
