The Nakama Day 2026 event, held at the Liberty Central Saigon Riverside Hotel, marked an important milestone in the company's journey toward building sustainable health values.

Dr. Fumiaki Ohta – Inheritor of the Hydrogen Research Legacy

The event was honored to welcome Dr. Fumiaki Ohta – Director of Hydrogen Healthcare Medical Labo, who shared profound professional insights on proactive health solutions. He is the son of Dr. Shigeo Ohta – a renowned Japanese scientist, recognized as a pioneer in the field of hydrogen medicine.

Dr. Shigeo Ohta, currently affiliated with Nippon Medical School in Tokyo, has dedicated over three decades to researching the health effects of molecular hydrogen. In 2007, he and his research team published a groundbreaking discovery: molecular hydrogen (H₂) acts as a therapeutic antioxidant, capable of selectively neutralizing the most harmful free radicals – overturning the long-held belief that hydrogen is "inert" in mammalian cells.

With an h-index of 71 and over 19,000 citations, Dr. Shigeo Ohta has demonstrated that hydrogen has far-reaching effects beyond antioxidant properties: anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, regulation of apoptosis and autophagy, as well as stimulation of energy metabolism. His research indicates that hydrogen helps reduce mitochondrial oxidative stress – considered a trigger for many chronic diseases, including diabetes and neurodegenerative disorders.

Dr. Fumiaki Ohta, as Director of Hydrogen Healthcare Medical Labo, continues his father's legacy in developing hydrogen-based health products and solutions. He has also been a co-author in studies on hydrogen water and its anti-fatigue effects.

Notably, the event marked a significant milestone with the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement, becoming an official member of the Vietnam-ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC) – a cooperation agreement aimed at disseminating knowledge on the application of hydrogen for health within the Vietnamese hydrogen community, opening up many new development opportunities in the field of proactive healthcare.

The full presence of everyone was the perfect piece, marking a major milestone for UNP with the launch of the Hanoi Business Center – a strategic expansion into the northern market – and the upcoming "Phu Quoc Voyage" journey, promising valuable connecting and value-creating experiences.
