Introduction
In 2024, Vietnamese consumers purchased 2.65 million motorcycles—equivalent to five units sold every minute—and half a million automobiles, nearly 1,400 units per day. The vast majority of these vehicles are powered by fossil fuel engines, contributing significantly to air pollution. While electric vehicles (EVs) are beginning to gain traction, a comprehensive approach is needed, including stronger policies to promote EVs and policies supporting new technologies such as biofuels, fuel cells, and emerging hydrogen fuel cell technologies.
The Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management (FSPPM) is committed to excellence in public policy education and research. Through rigorous academic programs and impactful research on pressing challenges facing Vietnam and the region, FSPPM advances evidence-based policymaking. Its expertise in policy analysis, economic development, and environmental management makes FSPPM a valuable partner in exploring technological and policy pathways for a cleaner transportation sector in Vietnam, contributing significantly to the dialogue on green transportation.
The Vietnam ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC) is devoted to building a zero-emission community in Vietnam and the broader ASEAN region. Through workshops, conferences, and other collaborative initiatives, VAHC unites researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers to promote the development and deployment of clean energy technologies and sustainable practices. By facilitating knowledge sharing on the latest advancements, VAHC fosters innovation and collaboration. Its commitment to a zero-emission future aligns directly with efforts to achieve green transportation in Vietnam, positioning VAHC as a key player in shaping technology and policy for sustainable mobility.
