5. Budget & Financing
Estimated Cost: $3,740,000
Estimated CAPEX and Equipment Costs (2025 Market)
| Item | Quantity | Unit Cost (USD) | Total Cost (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus | 3 | 500,000 | 1,500,000 |
| Electrolyzer (500 kW PEM) | 1 | 700,000 | 700,000 |
| Hydrogen Refueling Station | 1 | 2,000,000 | 2,000,000 |
| Showroom Setup & Project Management | - | 340,000 | 340,000 |
| Total CAPEX | - | - | 4,540,000 |
Notes: Bus prices may range 200,000 – 700,000 USD; electrolyzer CAPEX 500,000 – 1,600,000 USD; H2 Refill station 1–4 million USD. Market price in 2025.
OPEX Analysis
Assumptions:
-
Hydrogen consumption per bus: 30 kg/day
-
3 buses operating 300 days/year → total H₂ = 27,000 kg/year
-
Electrolyzer efficiency: 65 kWh/kg H₂
-
Electricity cost: 0.08 USD/kWh
-
Maintenance: electrolyzer 3% CAPEX/year, HRS 2% CAPEX/year, buses 5% CAPEX/year
-
Personnel: 2 operators, 12,000 USD/year each
| OPEX Item | Cost (USD/year) |
|---|---|
| Electricity | 140,400 |
| Maintenance | 136,000 |
| Personnel | 24,000 |
| Total OPEX | 300,400 |
Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH)
-
Annualized CAPEX: 4,540,000 / 10 years = 454,000 USD/year
-
Total Annual Cost (CAPEX + OPEX): 454,000 + 300,400 = 754,400 USD/year
-
Hydrogen produced annually: 27,000 kg
LCOH: 754,400 / 27,000 ≈ 27.9 USD/kg H₂
