Our member's news: Happy to see our member, Neuman & Esser had a lot of activities in Vietnam with regards to hydrogen!
A business trip to Vietnam for climate protection
The importance of hydrogen has always been emphasized in Vietnam's energy plans in recent years, such as the PDPVIII (National Power Development Plan for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050), which was released in May 2023. In February 2024, Vietnam officially released the National Hydrogen Plan that has the objective to develop the hydrogen energy ecosystem encompassing production, storage, transportation, distribution, and utilization of hydrogen with modern, synchronized infrastructure – achieving national goals on climate change, green growth, and the target of net-zero emissions by 2050.
NEUMAN & ESSER recently traveled to Vietnam to develop cooperation for climate protection. There, the delegation of NEUMAN & ESSER met the Economic Committee of Vietnam, Petrovietnam (PVN), Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and Vietnam Chemical Corporation (VINACHEM), to discuss how hydrogen projects can be launched. “In Vietnam, suitable framework conditions still need to be created to enable a rapid ramp-up of the hydrogen industry - particularly in the initial phase, a close cooperation between politics and industry is essential,” explains Stefanie Peters, Managing Partner of NEUMAN & ESSER.
NEUMAN & ESSER also took part in the workshop “Developing strategies and partnerships to build hydrogen infrastructure in Vietnam”, organized at Ho Chi Minh City’s Office of AHK Vietnam - Delegation of the German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam and hosted by the GIZ Energy Support Programme - Viet Nam and the Vietnam ASEAN Hydrogen Club on 1st August 2024. Attendees were representatives from Pacific Group, NEUMAN & ESSER (NEA GROUP), PV GAS, Dam Phu My, Standard Charters Vietnam, Trung Nam Group, PwC, Siemens, Bosch, VES Lawyers, and many other businesses and organizations. The workshop highlighted once again that Vietnam is predestined for the production of green hydrogen due to the favorable conditions for renewable energies. Cross-border cooperation must be developed efficiently for hydrogen production, transportation and application.
