Hydrogen Specialized Seminar June 2026 by Vietnam ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC): AI ⇄ Hydrogen – Two-Way Acceleration for the Energy and Intelligence Era

Ho Chi Minh City – On June 30, 2026, the Vietnam ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC) will organize its annual specialized seminar with the theme: "AI ⇄ Hydrogen: Two-Way Acceleration – What AI Can Do for the Hydrogen Industry and What Hydrogen Can Do for AI" in Ho Chi Minh City.
This is VAHC’s first specialized event of 2026, bringing together leading experts in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, data center development, and energy policy from Vietnam, ASEAN countries, and internationally. The seminar is expected to attract more than 40 delegates.
Background and Objectives
In the opening remarks, a representative of the VAHC Organizing Committee emphasized: “The year 2026 is witnessing two major parallel trends. On one side is the explosion of artificial intelligence with increasingly massive energy demands from data centers. On the other is the global hydrogen industry moving out of the pilot phase and entering the commercialization stage with projects capable of attracting capital. The key question is: Can AI help the hydrogen industry solve its most difficult challenges regarding cost and efficiency? And conversely, can hydrogen become a sustainable energy solution for the AI industry itself? This seminar will seek the answers.”
Program Agenda
Session 1: How AI Supports the Hydrogen Industry
The first discussion session will focus on specific applications of artificial intelligence across the entire hydrogen value chain:
- Presentation 1: AI in the discovery of new catalysts and materials for electrolyzers and fuel cells
- Presentation 2: Machine learning for optimizing electrolyzer equipment design
- Presentation 3: Smart operation, predictive maintenance, and AI-integrated control systems for hydrogen plants
- Roundtable Discussion: AI applications in large-scale industrial hydrogen projects – International experience and lessons for Vietnam
Session 2: How Hydrogen Supports AI
The second session focuses on the role of hydrogen in ensuring stable, clean, and flexible energy supply for AI data centers:
- Presentation 4: The energy challenge for AI data centers – Trends and issues
- Presentation 5: Hydrogen fuel cells for data centers: Primary and backup power solutions – International expert (expected from Japan or South Korea)
- Presentation 6: Comparison of hydrogen with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS): Costs, efficiency, and hybrid models
- Roundtable Discussion: Potential application of hydrogen fuel cells for data centers in Vietnam and ASEAN
Closing Session & Recommendations (17:00 – 18:00) Seminar summary, announcement of key policy recommendations, and the planned establishment of the AI-Hydrogen Working Group under VAHC to promote pilot projects in Vietnam.
