The working groups will meet approximately three times a year and contribute to knowledge-sharing activities, webinars, and the Hydrogen Scotland Annual Conference.
The five working groups include:
-
Power-to-X: Explores emerging opportunities for Scotland in hydrogen derivatives and synthetic fuels. Discussions include products, offtake and export opportunities, tariffs and standards, energy security, long-term storage, and evolving policy.
-
Safety Forum: Brings together expertise across the hydrogen value chain (production, storage, transport, end-use) to share best practices, discuss regulatory requirements, and address emerging challenges. Focuses on first response, incident management, and links to public engagement.
-
Skills & Training: Focuses on developing a skilled workforce to support Scotland's hydrogen ambitions. Identifies current and future workforce needs, bridges skills gaps, and shapes relevant training pathways.
-
Legal & Regulatory: Focuses on the legal and regulatory landscape shaping hydrogen development. Discusses compliance requirements, planning processes, and evolving codes and standards. Aims to simplify complex language and share project lessons.
-
Public Engagement & Planning: Strengthens public engagement and planning processes. Shares best practices, coordinates engagement activities, communicates the role, safety, and benefits of hydrogen to communities and stakeholders.
Following each group's inaugural meeting, members will elect a Chair and Vice-Chair. Members not part of the core groups can still contribute by signing up for updates and participating in consultations.
