On February 5, 2026, the thematic seminar “Renewable Hydrogen and Circular Energy Solutions for Vietnam and ASEAN’s Green Mobility Future: The Real Thing” was held at Serepok Phan Chu Trinh (175 Phan Chu Trinh Street, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City). The event was hosted by the Vietnam – ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC) in collaboration with Wisdom Motor Group and UNP Healthcare Vietnam Co., Ltd., gathering experts, enterprises, and organizations active in hydrogen, green energy, and sustainable mobility.

As part of the program, Ms. Ho Thi Bich Phuong, representing UNP Healthcare Vietnam, delivered a presentation on hydrogen applications in the healthcare sector, focusing on the scientific foundations of hydrogen and practical experience in product deployment in Vietnam.

From Clean Energy to Biomedical Potential

At the beginning of her presentation, Ms. Phuong provided an overview of hydrogen from scientific and industrial perspectives. Hydrogen has long been recognized as a clean energy source in oil and gas, chemical industries, and the global energy transition. However, recent research indicates that hydrogen also holds potential applications in biomedicine and healthcare.

To illustrate this perspective, Ms. Phuong compared industrial corrosion processes with oxidative processes in the human body. Just as corrosion degrades materials in industrial environments, excessive oxidation in the body can damage cells and impair physiological functions. The presentation highlighted oxidative stress as a key factor that may negatively affect human health.

Oxidative Stress and Its Health Implications

According to the presentation, oxidation is a natural biological process associated with metabolism. However, environmental pollution, psychological stress, and modern lifestyles can increase the production of free radicals beyond the body’s capacity to regulate them.

When oxidative stress occurs, cellular damage may result, organ function can decline, and the risk of chronic diseases may increase. The presentation also discussed the relationship between oxidative stress and visceral fat accumulation, a factor associated with metabolic imbalance and various health conditions. Therefore, controlling oxidative stress is considered an important foundation for long-term health management.

Hydrogen-Rich Water as a Supportive Antioxidant Approach

Based on scientific studies referenced in the presentation, Ms. Phuong introduced Hydrogen-Rich Water (HRW) as a selective antioxidant support solution. Hydrogen is considered capable of neutralizing certain harmful free radicals without interfering with essential biological reactions in the body.

The use of hydrogen-rich water is suggested to have the potential to support cellular protection, reduce oxidative stress, and contribute to improved quality of life. At the same time, Ms. Phuong emphasized the importance of transparent, science-based communication and alignment with professional health guidance.

Practical Experience in the Vietnamese Market

Beyond the scientific foundation, Ms. Phuong shared practical insights from the distribution and market development of IZUMIO hydrogen-rich water in Vietnam. Public awareness of hydrogen-based healthcare products remains relatively new, requiring educational and communication efforts grounded in scientific evidence and clear information.

While the growing demand for proactive healthcare creates favorable conditions, disseminating accurate scientific knowledge to the broader community remains a significant challenge. This calls for closer collaboration among businesses, researchers, and professional organizations.

Ms. Ho Thi Bich Phuong’s presentation at the seminar contributed a broader perspective on hydrogen—not only as a clean energy carrier, but also as a subject of emerging research in healthcare—opening up new opportunities for collaboration and further study in the future.
