On the morning of October 5, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations coordinated with the Indonesian Consulate General in the city and the City Trade and Investment Promotion Center to organize a Business Forum with the theme " Expanding Indonesia-Vietnam trade cooperation-Introducing the 38th Indonesia Trade Exhibition (TEI) 2023 and learning about the Halal market."
In his opening speech, Mr. Ho Xuan Lam, Vice President, General Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1955 until now, Vietnam-Indonesia relations always developing strongly in all fields; In which bilateral trade turnover grows positively every year. In 2022, bilateral turnover between the two countries will reach 14.1 billion USD, an increase of 3 times compared to 10 years ago.
The forum is an opportunity for businesses from both sides to exchange, explore opportunities, promote trade cooperation and contribute to cultivating a strong friendship between the two peoples.
Ms. Cao Thi Phi Van, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center, said Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world with a population of more than 267 million people; is the market with the largest demand for Halal-certified products in the world. This is a potential market for Vietnamese businesses. Export businesses should proactively learn and apply for Halal certification to access this market.
According to Ms. Cao Thi Phi Van, the Forum is an opportunity for businesses of the two countries to meet, connect trade and update more information and trade potential between Vietnam and Indonesia in particular as well as the markets of Muslim countries. In general, this helps businesses have a basis for planning market expansion plans and finding investment and business partners in your country.
Mr. Agustaviano Sofjan, Consul General of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the Forum is one of the activities commemorating the 10th anniversary of establishing the Strategic Partnership between Indonesia and Vietnam.
The event introduces Ho Chi Minh City businesses to the 38th Indonesia Trade Exhibition in 2023 to further expand joint cooperation opportunities between the two countries, especially localities in southern Vietnam.
