GBACNA Hosted First Sustainable Buildings Forum with USGBC to Inspire New Insights
大灣區碳中和協會 GBA Carbon Neutrality Association is honored to join hands with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as the convenor to successfully host ‘Reaching New Heights of Sustainable Buildings: Why It Makes Sense for Business & What Lies Ahead’ on April 12, 2024 at Centricity in Central. This special event brought together the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) as the supporting partners, as well as prominent Hong Kong property developers, including Hongkong Land Limited as the venue sponsor, Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited, and Swire Properties, to share their experiences in green building and sustainability practices.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Dennis Wu, Founding President of GBACNA, highlighted the significance of the gathering of the three major green building councils and concluded his opening remarks with 3Cs—collaborate, connect, and communicate—as he reflected on the purpose of facilitating this event.
With Ms. Grace Kwok, Vice-President of GBACNA, as the moderator for the 1st panel discussion ‘Sustainable Real Estate in the Era of ESG and Green Finance,’ we were pleased to have Mr. Mark LAM, Associate Director & Head of Investor Relations & Corporate Sustainability of Hongkong Land, Mr. Andy MOK, Project Director of Sun Hung Kai Properties, and Mr. Patrick HO, Head of Sustainable Development of Swire Properties as our panelists, who shared their insights on the challenges and opportunities in advancing sustainable real estate in this era of green building and green finance.
For the 2nd panel discussion ‘Dialogue with GBCs: Latest Development of Sustainable Buildings and Future of Green Rating,’ we were honored to have Ms. Christine Loh, Chief Development Strategist of the Institute for the Environment of HKUST, as the moderator, and Mr. Peter Templeton, President & CEO of USGBC, Ir Harry Lai, BBS, Executive Director of HKGBC, and Ms. Yvonne Soh, Executive Director of SGBC, as the panelists. Their collective knowledge and expertise shared by our esteemed speakers truly inspired us all! ✨
The event concluded with an insightful closing remark by Ms. Jing WANG, Vice President of USGBC North Asia, who expressed her special thanks to GBACNA for successfully organizing a high-quality industry forum and providing a perfect ending to the CEO's visit of the USGBC in China. Mr. Vitus YIU, Vice-President of GBACNA, was delighted to present the carbon credit certificates to our speakers as a token of appreciation.
