CONCEPTUAL PROJECT: COMPREHENSIVE GREEN FUEL PRODUCTION PROJECT FOR LGH2 & SAF AT LACH HUYEN: A LARGE-SCALE SUSTAINABLE ENERGY ECOSYSTEM
Led by Dr. Mai Huy Tan, Chairman of THDV Company, a conceptual ambitious and comprehensive green energy project is taking shape, aiming to establish an industrial-scale system for the production, liquefaction, storage, and distribution of clean fuels. The project's core focuses on producing LGH2 (Liquefied Green Hydrogen) and SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel), utilizing on-site renewable energy and biomass feedstocks.
[Please note that this project is at conceptual stage]

I. SYSTEM OVERVIEW
The system is designed as an integrated, closed-loop chain, from clean energy generation and fuel production to liquefaction, storage equipment manufacturing, and distribution logistics. The project scale covers 300 hectares in the Lach Huyen area.
II. KEY COMPONENTS & CAPACITIES
-
Renewable Energy Sources:
-
GET Energy Tower & Nano Solar Power: Provide a total capacity of 1,170 MW.
-
Total Electricity Output: Reaching 16 billion kWh/year, of which 10.8 billion kWh/year is prioritized to supply the water electrolysis plant.
-
-
Biomass Feedstock Zone:
-
Agricultural Biomass Production Zone: Cultivates elephant grass and corn with a massive output of 8,575,000 tons/year (including 3,200,000 tons/year of elephant grass).
-
Biomass Power Plant from Biogas Technology: Processes biomass for power generation (333 MW capacity) and concurrently produces 6,400,000 tons of organic fertilizer/year, creating a sustainable agricultural cycle.
-
-
Green Hydrogen & Oxygen Production Cluster:
-
Water Electrolysis Plant: Uses renewable electricity to split water, producing GH2 (Green Hydrogen) and GO2 (Green Oxygen) gases.
-
GH2 Gas Liquefaction Plant: Liquefies hydrogen into LGH2 with an output of 215,000 tons/year.
-
GO2 Gas Liquefaction Plant: Liquefies oxygen into LGO2 with an output of 1,720,000 tons/year.
-
-
Fuel & Storage Equipment Manufacturing Cluster:
-
SAF Production Plant: Utilizes biomass feedstock and potentially hydrogen to produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with a capacity of 150,000 m³/year.
-
LGH2 Container & Tank Manufacturing Plant: Manufactures 3,000 containers and 300 large tanks/year for transporting and storing LGH2.
-
LGO2 Storage Tank Manufacturing Plant: Meets the storage needs for the large volume of LGO2 produced.
-
-
Logistics & Distribution System:
-
Establishes a systematic logistics network to distribute products (LGH2, SAF, LGO2, fertilizer) to the domestic Vietnamese market and for export.
-
Expected LGH2 export volume: 215,000 tons/year.
-
Target export markets include: Japan, China, South Korea...

III. SIGNIFICANCE & IMPACT OF THE PROJECT
-
Energy Transition: Makes a significant contribution to Vietnam's goals of green energy transition and carbon emission reduction.
-
High-Tech Industrial Development: Builds a complete green hydrogen and sustainable fuel industry, from production to accompanying equipment manufacturing.
-
Circular Agricultural Economy: Creates new value chains from agriculture (feedstock crops), provides stable output for farmers, and produces organic fertilizer for soil improvement.
-
Export Promotion: Positions Vietnam as a reliable supplier of clean fuels in the region, particularly liquid hydrogen and SAF for the aviation industry.
-
Multifaceted Solution: Simultaneously provides several essential products: clean energy, transportation fuels (aviation, maritime), industrial feedstock (liquid oxygen), and organic fertilizer.
IV. CONCLUSION
Dr. Mai Huy Tan's project is not merely a standalone fuel production plant but a large-scale, tightly integrated "ecosystem of renewable energy and high-tech agriculture." With its strategic vision and multidisciplinary integration (energy, agriculture, manufacturing, chemicals, logistics), the project demonstrates the potential to create a breakthrough in Vietnam's clean energy sector. It contributes to realizing the nation's net-zero emission goals and sustainable development.
